Miami Hurricanes Survive Appalachian State Scare

The Miami Hurricanes narrowly avoided an upset, edging out Appalachian State 27-24 in a thrilling contest that came down to the final drive. Miami’s quarterback Tyler Van Dyke led a late-game comeback, throwing for 295 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with under a minute to play.

Appalachian State, known for their ability to pull off upsets, gave Miami all they could handle, with quarterback Joey Aguilar accounting for 260 total yards and two touchdowns. Miami’s defense, however, made key stops in the final minutes, preventing Appalachian State from pulling off another upset.

For Miami, the close win serves as a wake-up call. Head coach Mario Cristobal stressed the importance of consistency and discipline, particularly as the Hurricanes prepare for tougher ACC competition.
